Rice Export to Belgium from India

Belgium sits at the centre of the EU’s rice trade routes, and Kumud Group has been supplying basmati and non-basmati rice to international buyers for more than 30 years. Our two mills, one in Sandi Chungi, Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, and one in Village Nariana, Taraori, Karnal, Haryana, sit inside India’s GI-certified rice growing belt. We currently export to more than 30 countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. For Belgian importers, distributors, and private label buyers, we supply Basmati (1121, 1401, 1509, 1718, Pusa, Traditional), Non-Basmati (PR11, PR14, Parmal, Sharbati, Sona Masoori, Ponni, Matta, Idli, Kolam, Black Rice), and Pesticide Residue Free rice, packed and documented to match EU entry requirements.

Compliance and Import Regulations for Belgium

Belgium follows the same EU-wide food import framework as every other EU member state, but a few rules matter specifically for rice coming from India.

Pesticide Residue Limits and Testing

The EU sets some of the strictest pesticide residue limits in the world under Regulation (EC) No 396/2005. The one that matters most for basmati exporters is tricyclazole, a fungicide once common in paddy cultivation, capped at 0.01 mg/kg since 2018, down from the earlier limit of 1 mg/kg. Rice above this limit is rejected at the border. We test every basmati and Pesticide Residue Free consignment before it leaves India.

Popular Rice Varieties in the Belgian Market

1121 Basmati Rice

Long grain, known for its length after cooking, a common choice for bulk food service buyers.

1509 Basmati Rice

Shorter cooking time than traditional basmati, popular with importers who want faster turnaround.

Traditional Basmati Rice

Aged basmati with a stronger aroma, used by buyers who want a premium grade.

KUMUD XXXL 1121 Basmati Rice PLATINUM

Pesticide Residue Free Rice

For Saudi buyers with stricter food safety requirements, we also supply Pesticide Residue Free rice across select basmati varieties. This is tested for pesticide residue limits before it leaves our mill.

Note: Non basmati rice from our range, including Sona Masoori, Ponni, PR11, PR14 and Parmal can also be supplied to Belgium on request.

Packaging and Shipping to Belgium

Packaging Options

We pack from 500g retail pouches up to 50kg bulk bags, and adjust pack sizes to match what your Belgian retail chain, ethnic grocery network, or foodservice distributor needs. Custom private label packaging is available, so importers can bring the rice to market under their own brand rather than ours.

Shipping Terms, Port of Entry and Order Quantities

Orders start at 20 to 21 metric tonnes, a full container load, which keeps per-unit freight costs down for Belgian buyers. Shipments are typically cleared through the Port of Antwerp, Belgium’s main container gateway with an established food-chain border control post.
